Coaching Supervision
BECOME MORE OF THE COACH YOU ALREADY ARE
I remember my first coaching clients and that uneasiness I felt when I didn’t know exactly what to do next - searching for the right question, not straying into teaching or consulting, wanting to be of great value and driving action rather than client reflection and insight. I had the training. I did not yet have the trust in myself, or in the process, to sit inside not knowing.
That early stage taught me the most important lesson of my career: coaching mastery is not about having the right question ready. It is about developing the presence to stay with my client wherever they may go. Putting them in the driver’s seat, not me.
The middle years brought a different kind of edge. I knew the models. I had a Mary Poppins carpet bag full of activities, models, frameworks, “best practices.” I could run a session well. What I needed then was somewhere to bring the moments that did not need the carpet bag: the client who triggered something in me, the silence I filled too quickly, the pattern I could not quite name. That is where supervision found me, not as a requirement to check off, but as the place I went to become more of the coach I already was and the coach I strived to be.
Now, in the later stretch of this path, my edges look different again. They are less about technique and more about range: how do I stay sharp, stay humble, and keep growing when I have already logged thousands of hours?
Mastery, I have learned, is not a destination. It is a willingness to keep working the edges, at every stage. I offer coaching supervision for coaches standing anywhere on that path. If you are early in your practice, we will build the muscle of reflection alongside the muscle of skill, so both grow together instead of one outrunning the other. If you are well-established and ready to work your edges, we will use real, live material from your practice, not hypotheticals, to sharpen judgment, deepen presence, and expand your range.
I have walked the early, middle, and expert stretches of this path myself, and I bring what I learned at each one into the room with you. Supervision with me is direct, warm, and grounded. I will be honest, and I will hold you to your best. Wherever you are on your path, there is something here for you.
